Boston Celtics Center Earns Honor After Strong Performances

Porzingis Led Celtics to 3-0 Record Last Week

Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the week of December 5-11, the NBA announced on Monday. Porzingis becomes the first Celtic in franchise history to earn the award.

The 7-foot-3 center averaged 23.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game while leading the Celtics to a 3-0 record last week. He shot 53.3% from the field and 40.0% from three-point range.

Porzingis's most impressive performance came in a 116-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday. He finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks in a matchup against reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Celtics are currently 18-14 on the season and are tied for third place in the Eastern Conference. Porzingis has been a key contributor to the team's success, averaging 22.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game.

Porzingis is expected to miss Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a right rib contusion. The Celtics will re-evaluate his status later this week.
